Here is a scary tale for you all this Halloween ... 

Several years ago the California Dairy Association mounted a national advertising campaign ... promoting the idea that California cows are the most contented cows in America and therefore give best milk.

I guess, in theory, to your average bull -- nothing would look creamier than a California heifer in a thong. After all, those Wisconsin cows enduring those seemingly endless months of snow must know ... cows in sunny California look better, probably taste better and certainly have more fun. Right? OK!

Now, riding on the success of this campaign the Halloween prior to our San Diego departure for France, Martine & her pal Bobbi decided to go to their office party dressed as? oui, you’ve got it ... California Cows!

Fast forward to our arrival in the petit hamlet of Magnagues where after spending seemingly endless 15 hour days remodeling rancho Escargot we still had not made any new friends locally ... well, except for the cows in the pasture right next to us!

After sufficient Pastis late one afternoon, Martine got the bright idea that we’d get that old cow costume on and introduce the French vasche nextdoor to their new California cow neighbors!

We knew if any of the locals caught us in this 'outfit' any possibility of integrating into le petit hameau would be toast ... a very scary thought!
